Friday Night Football has been a part of my life since I was a teenager marching in the White County Warrior marching band. I have such fond memories of that time in my life. Sure- all the practicing that started in the heat of the summer was rough, and the fact that it took three nights out of my week between rehearsing and the game was hard, but it was all worth it. The things I learned, the friends I made and the fun I had made such a lasting impression on my life.
There was several years when my kids were little that those Friday night memories faded, but once my son was a teenager and he joined the marching band himself, the fun and memories of Friday Nights in a small town resurfaced again. The practices, competitions, riding the bus to away games, and working in the concession stands, brought back all the smiles and fun times that I had in my youth- except it was even better because I was experiencing it with my own son.
My daughter absolutely loves football- wether its our local high school (which she still deems her school since she graduated there) or her favorite college team The Georgia Bulldogs, she always tries to watch each game she can. So, she hitched a ride with a family friend tonight, and off to the game she went. Unfortunately, it started to storm, the game was called, and they had to leave early. But, as she often says, “oh well, maybe next time”. So I’m sure she will be checking out the schedule and finding a way to get to the next game! LOL In the meantime, we will just head out to the Dairy Queen and get us a blizzard!
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV
